Heidi Receives Recognition from State of Connecticut

The lawn between the Yale Police Department and Yale Health was filled with thousands of people attending the Yale Health and Yale Public Safety event featuring Heidi.

Facility and comfort dogs from as far as Lehigh University in Pennsylvania were on hand to join Heidi in spreading joy to the Yale community.

The day was filled with vendors providing information and food trucks and vendors handing out tasty treats. Avelo Airlines raffled two round-trip tickets to anywhere the airline flies.

The event’s highlight was Officer Rich Simons and Heidi receiving a proclamation from the state of Connecticut presented by Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz.

“Receiving the proclamation from Lt. Governor Bysiewicz gave me a sense of fulfillment and pride to see Team Heidi officially recognized for our commitment and work in community engagement by providing a calming, comforting presence and support,” said Rich Simons, Yale police officer. “The proclamation is also a testament to Yale Public Safety’s dedication to strengthening community-based policing. We are grateful to be part of this important mission and we are deeply honored and humbled by the recognition from the governor.”
