ICAT Train-the-Trainer Comes to Yale

Lieutenant Chris Halstead and Sergeant Aaron Zainc participated in the Integrating Communications, Assessment, and Tactics (ICAT) Train-the-Trainer workshop.

The one-and-a-half-day hands-on training included an innovative, evidence-based approach to use-of-force training. The police officers were given the tools, skills, and options needed to neutralize a range of critical incidents successfully and safely.

Modules taught during the training included handling suicide-by-cop situations and “step up and step in,” which trains officers to apply leadership techniques and identify the best tactics and communications in dynamic situations.

Attendees were prepared to train their agency’s personnel in ICAT and facilitate scenarios that develop officer competency.
