Toys collected at chili cookoff. The aroma of simmering chili filled the room at Public Safety’s Systems & Services chili cook-off.

Started in 2012, the annual event provides an opportunity for team building, and to collect unwrapped toys to donate to the Ronald McDonald House of Connecticut.

“The chili cook-off is an opportunity for team building through a fun competition and a chance to taste some of the best chili ever made,” said Bill Goldbach, associate director of Public Safety Systems. “The winner gets to proudly display the trophy in their office until the next contest.”

This is the first time the contest ended in a tie. Moving forward, we’ve put in place a way to break a tie. – Goldbach said

The chefs who competed for the trophy and bragging rights were Bill Goldbach, Holly Hermes, Tom Madera, David Nevins, Frank Squeglia, and Keith Pullen.

The winners are:

  • Tom Madera and William Goldbach tied for first place.
  • Keith Pullen (last year’s champion) was the 3rd place winner by one vote.

The event is free to Public Safety employees, but everyone is asked to bring an unwrapped toy.
