Yale Public Safety offers lockout services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. A uniformed security officer will be dispatched to provide this service.

Yale College residents during the academic year

  • Business hours: Yale College students locked out during the weekday between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., please contact your Head of College Office.
  • After hours: Students locked out of their rooms should call the Central Alarm Station at 203-785-5555. They should provide the operator with their name, building name, entryway letter, room number, and floor for verification purposes. Please wait for the security officer in front of the locked door.

Graduate housing residents

Some graduate school buildings have access to lockout keys via their student IDs. Follow the instructions provided at check-in from Yale Housing for how to resolve a lockout for your specific building. When in doubt, or if unable to access the lockout key box, call the Central Alarm Station at 203-785-5555.

Faculty and staff offices, classrooms or non-residential spaces

Yale faculty and staff members locked out of their offices, classrooms, or non-residential spaces should call the Central Alarm Station at 203-785-5555.

Summer housing guests

For guests staying on-campus during the summer for Commencement, Reunions, or a summer program call the 24/7 Central Summer Office at 203-432-4020 for lockout support.
