Yale is proud to be a Silver-level Bicycle Friendly UniversitySM, as awarded by the League of American Bicyclists. The League of American Bicyclists is a nonprofit organization representing bicyclists in the movement to create safer roads, stronger communities, and a bicycle-friendly America through information, advocacy, and promotion. The Bicycle Friendly University program recognizes institutions of higher education for promoting and providing a more bikeable campus for students, staff, and visitors.

Yale Partnership with Ride New Haven

Yale faculty, staff, and students—anyone with a @yale.edu email address—are eligible for a free Ride New Haven bikeshare account and 20 minutes of free riding each day through June 30, 2027.

To get started, download the Ride New Haven app and create a new account using your Yale email address. If you already have an account, update the email on your profile to your Yale address. The benefit should appear in the app right away.

This program is supported by a generous grant from the Thomas L. Kempner, Jr., Foundation, Inc, managed by Yale’s Office of Sustainability. The grant will strengthen New Haven’s bikeshare system by adding 10 additional e-bikes to the city’s fleet and funding one year of operations and maintenance for the new bikes.
