The Preschool curriculum builds academic and social preparedness through play that includes block building, dramatic play, artwork, exploration in science, work with puzzles and manipulatives, sensory play, cooking, and gardening. The room is rich with blocks, materials, and art supplies to engage children’s interests. Preschoolers also participate in school Specials: Spanish, fitness, music, and Tinkering (engineering and design) and have reading buddies from the upper grades. The Kindergarten through sixth grade curriculum uses an integrated, thematic approach to language arts, math, and science, and Cold Spring engages in an international Social Curriculum for children to work together on problem solving and showing others kindness and compassion. Parents help with chaperoning field trips and sharing professional expertise relative to classroom topics. Cold Spring School is a vibrant, joyous, and diverse community.
