Promote Belonging this Summer
Recognizing others’ contributions, expertise, and input helps them feel a greater sense of belonging. Here are two ways to celebrate and acknowledge others this summer.
In addition, community members may be celebrating cultural and religious observances in July and August. What are you celebrating? Please let us know.
Have you heard of Yale’s “Chat Stickers”—virtual stickers that enliven your computer, mobile phone, or social media chats? Chat Stickers feature fun graphics and phrases like “One of a Kind!” and “Be You,” and promote a sense of inclusion across the university.
In fact, the most recent release of Chat Stickers was developed with input from Yale staff, three of whom were recognized for their contributions.
Make a colleague’s day by saying “You Rock!,” “Kudos,” “Brilliant,” and more. It just takes a moment to select a beautiful Yale image and write a quick note. Your note will immediately be sent to the recipient via email. Use the address book feature to quickly find a staff member’s email address. You can also send Ycards to faculty, students, alumni, and those outside of Yale by simply typing in their email address.
Learn more about how to use Chat Stickers, including on your mobile device, to promote belonging in your area of campus or within your community.
Did you know that you can nominate a current Yale employee or team of employees for improving diversity, inclusion, and cross-cultural understanding at Yale? Each August, the university opens the nomination process for the Linda Lorimer Award for Distinguished Service. Learn more about the award, including eligibility, the nomination process, and a slideshow of past recipients. The nomination period will be from August 17 - September 6, 2022.
