Welcome from Chief Ronnell Higgins
Members of the Yale Community,
All of us at the Yale Police Department (YPD) and Yale Security along with our partners in the New Haven Police Department, are committed to providing the highest level of professional police and public safety services to foster a safe learning and working environment for our students, faculty, staff, alumni and visitors.
The campus Police Department is comprised of highly trained officers dedicated to keeping the campus safe. They oversee matters related to life safety, crime prevention, and campus law enforcement. Established in 1894, the YPD is the oldest campus police department in the United States. Our longstanding community policing philosophy reinforce our understanding about the importance of outreach, education, and close partnerships with members of the community. Beginning this Fall, I will host open office hours on the first Wednesday of each month. –Continue to check our web site for details.
You will hear from me on various matters. As required by federal law, you can expect to receive an email from me when a serious campus crime occurs that represents a threat to the campus community. Throughout the yar, I will send you public safety updates to keep you informed and to offer suggestions for improving your personal safety
For more information regarding campus police services or for general campus safety information, please visit us at 101 Ashmun Street, call us at 203-432-4400, or continue to use this website.
I hope you take full advantage of the services we have in place for your safety and always feel free to contact us for any assistance. If you have questions, concerns, or suggestions about public safety at Yale, we would be glad to hear from you. You may reach us by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by using the Feedback form on this site.
As a resident of New Haven and Chief of the Yale Police I would like to extend a warm welcome to everyone and send best wishes for a happy and safe semester.
