Security Services

Yale University Security is committed to providing a safe and secure environment to the entire campus community. To accomplish this, we rely on employees committed to providing stellar customer service and security. Yale Security officers patrol the campus 24 hours per day and perform a variety of services, including walking escorts and lockout services. Security officers cover the entire campus on marked patrol SUVs, electric cars, and Segways. Security officers are non-sworn and have direct communication with dispatch centers and Yale Police to provide improved efficiencies and information sharing. All Security officers receive extensive training through new hire and continuous in-service training.

Public Safety Systems & Services

Public Safety Systems & Services project management team handles administration and coordination of University Security systems (Access control, alarm systems, intercom, and video)—including installation, service, and monitoring. Security systems are monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week by highly trained professionals in the Yale University Security Central Alarm Station. This team is responsible for interfacing with the Yale community to maintain and improve all electronic and security systems, including site surveys, report generation, selection of equipment for use, and implementation of installations on campus. Public Safety Systems & Services represents Yale Security and coordinates with Yale Office of Facilities project managers, architects, general contractors, and individual department directors or managers that have the umbrella of “security” under their responsibilities by:

  • Creating security requirements for new building and other projects
  • Assisting in the design of all new capital projects
  • Giving direction in the field to constructors, post design
  • Maintaining contact and ensuring coordination with the end users throughout the process to ensure the project is tracked through to completion
