Public Safety Security Operations Training Manager

Public Safety Security Operations Training Manager Reginald (Reggie) Chavis is responsible for tracking, developing, and implementing training for department personnel. Reggie has nine years of service as a Security Operations Manager. He holds several certifications including a Certificate of Achievement from FEMA ICS-100, ICS-200, and ICS-700 and a Certificate of Completion in Campus and Community Crime Prevention through Environmental Design from WSM Trainers and Consultant.

Reggie served as a State Department of Connecticut (DOC) correctional officer for twenty years, before retiring. During his tenure at DOC, he became a member of the Correctional Emergency Response Team, Central Transportation Unit and Managed Intake Unit. He is trained in the management of aggressive behavior, PMT crisis management, effective communication, OSHA/bloodborne pathogens, surveillance, and internal special operations. Reggie is the recipient of the State of Connecticut Department of Correction Preservation of Life Ribbon.

Reggie also served in the United States Navy for ten years. While in service, he held the rank of Petty Officer Second Class and served as the training coordinator for the Master-At-Arms Division. There, his duties consisted of security and force protection, anti-terrorism, physical security, and law enforcement duties and direct investigations.
