COVID-19 Public Safety Update

  • Socially-distanced Safety Walks: All officers will wear appropriate protective facial masks and a visible security uniform. Officers will maintain a safe distance during the walk for your and their protection.

  • Safe Ride services: Yale University is temporarily suspending Safe Ride services due to current social distancing guidelines. The safety of staff, riders, and the community is our top priority. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. As the situation evolves, we will provide updates to any changes in this service.


If a student, staff or faculty members needs to get around campus below are some options. After 6 p.m., call our central dispatch number and they will suggest which option works best for you.

Nighttime Safe Rides

Nighttime Safe Rides are available from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am to take you door-to-door within the campus boundary. A University shuttle will be dispatched to your location and will drop you to your final on-campus destination. It is advisable to request the service at least 30 minutes prior to the intended departure time, and even earlier, during high-demand hours such as late nights or weekends.

When downloading the app, use your NetID as your username and set up your password. Use the app to request your ride and to receive notifications when your driver arrives.

Walking Escorts 

Students, Faculty, and Staff may request a Security escort anywhere within the campus footprint. A security officer will walk you to-and-from any point on campus, within a reasonable walking distance on campus between Yale buildings.

Special Services Van

Yale Transit operates a Special Services Van that transports members of the Yale community who are permanently or temporarily disabled. Passengers are picked up on request and transported within the Shuttle boundary. To register, contact the Resource Office on Disabilities (203-432-2325).
