Direct deposit delivers your Yale University paycheck into your bank, financial institution, or credit union’s account quickly and safely without a fee. There are no checks to be lost, stolen or forged. You will get your payment on time, even if out of town, sick or unable to get to the bank. You can also split your payments between multiple accounts.
Direct Deposit verification
For security purposes, a payroll staff member must verbally confirm your direct deposit setup.
- If you set up a new direct deposit account or make changes to your bank name or account number, please expect a call or email from Payroll.
- Be sure to check your voicemail messages.
- Please also check your spam/junk folder in case the email is filtered there.
Your direct deposit cannot be approved without this verification. If we are unable to reach you, your payment election will be declined. You will need to resubmit your direct deposit request.
Please note:
- Direct deposit can only be set up with banks located within the United States.
- You may enter checking or savings account information only. Credit or debit card numbers are not accepted.
- Direct deposit setup may take up to several pay periods to be completed due to bank verification requirements.
- This processing time cannot be expedited, so please plan accordingly.
- Prior to direct deposit being fully set up, you may receive a check. Please ensure your mailing address in Workday is up to date to avoid delays.
- The Payroll Department does not hold checks for pickup.
