Even before the pandemic began, the drivers and driver’s assistants at the Culinary Support Center have played a critical role in providing culinary delivery services to all areas of the University. Since then, they have stepped into their roles with even greater enthusiasm. Chris Langley and Shakilah Phillip have taken on greater responsibility in coordinating deliveries and spearheading sanitation best practices at the CSC. They also assist in gathering and organizing items available for donation to our food rescue partners. Barbara Arnal, Ashlee Griffin, Richard Clark, Anthony Franco, and Davon Willoughby have been true front-line responders delivering food to residential, retail, and guests in isolation, often stepping up to work additional shifts to lend support where needed. Additionally, our drivers played a crucial role in delivering equipment and supplies to the Field Hospital.
The driver’s assistants are also playing a significant role in our COVID 19 operation. Chaevon Samuel has taken on the additional responsibility of making deliveries to our customers. In addition to their regular job duties, Derrick Suggs and Cristina Torres are helping ensure the building is sanitized throughout the day.
From driving to supporting building sanitation, to helping build breakfast and lunch bags, the team has come together and shown they are willing to do whatever it takes to serve the campus. They are true front-line heroes!
