Message from the Chief - BB Gun Assaults September 17, 2022

A message from Chief Anthony Campbell

To the Yale Community,

I write to let you know of a BB gun assault that occurred at approximately 9:38 pm in the vicinity of Elm Street and Howe Street. A Yale community member was walking in the area when they were struck by BB gun pellets. It is suspected that the pellets were fired from a white Toyota 4Runner. Shortly thereafter, a second report was made of individuals being assaulted by BB gun pellets in the area of Howe Street and Whalley Avenue, from a vehicle that matched the one aforementioned. No serious physical injuries were reported in either incident. The Yale Police have increased patrols in the area and are working with the New Haven Police to identify those responsible.
