A message from Chief Ronnell A. Higgins
To the Yale Community,
I write to let you know of a purse snatching that occurred at 10:27 pm on 07/10/2021 in front of 300 York Street. An individual who is not affiliated with Yale was entering the passenger side of her vehicle when she was approached by a male who grabbed her purse from her hands. The male then entered a dark colored crossover or SUV which fled north on York Street and turned west on Grove Street.
No weapons were displayed and no physical injuries were reported. The New Haven police are investigating. The Yale Police Department is working closely with the New Haven Police Department in an effort to identify the individual responsible.
