YPD Officer Receives Life Saving Medal
March 3, 2015
Yale Police Chief Ronnell Higgins is proud to announce that Officer Dan Sentementes was issued the Life Saving Medal for reviving an unconscious man during an evening call March 2nd.
After responding to the report of a man down near York and Crown Streets, Officer Sentementes arrived to find a man, who had fallen and been knocked unconscious, being attended to by a passerby who happened to be an EMT. At the time, the man had no pulse and was not breathing.
Officer Sentementes, aided by a passing nurse, administered CPR for several minutes until the man’s breathing and pulse were restored. He was subsequently transported to the hospital. During the medal award ceremony, Officer Sentementes mentioned that he had recently attended a CPR refresher class taught by YPD Officer Greg Swiantek and utilized that training in that situation.
The nurse and EMT who assisted will be issued civilian commendations.
