Chris Farmer-New Business Operations Subject Matter Expert for Workday

Chris Farmer, associate dean, of Finance and Administration for the School of Nursing, has joined the Workday Change Management team as the subject matter expert for Sponsored Research. Chris reports directly to Kathy Byington, Workday Change Management Lead and will continue to support the School of Nursing in a part-time capacity through a transition period.

Working with the sponsored programs functional team and the business operations service groups, Chris will support the business operations community in preparing for the implementation of Workday. With a deep understanding of the end-to-end business processes, Chris will be the go-to expert for grants. He will assist the teams in identifying current and future work flows for sponsored research, defining areas for change, and supporting the ongoing optimization of grants-related processes. Chris will collaborate with the Workday change management communications and training teams to ensure the successful staff adoption of Workday grants processes.

Once Workday Financials launches in July 2017, Chris will lead cross-functional teams to develop business processes at the departmental level that support and optimize the university’s new Workday software.

Chris brings extensive experience in finance and operations including broad pre-award and post-award grant and contract administration  to his new position.

Prior to coming to Yale in 2013, Chris served as vice chair for administration, at the University of Miami’s Miller School of Medicine, and held progressively responsible roles at Duke University’s Center for Human Genetics and the Fuqua School of Business. Chris earned his B.S. in accounting from North Carolina State University and holds an M.B.A from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke.
