New Lead Administrator for Administration, Public Safety, and Human Resources-Sonja Beamon-Rezendes

Sonja Beamon-Rezendes has been promoted to lead administrator, director of Finance and Administration for Administration, Public Safety, and Human Resources, effective November 1st. Reporting jointly to me and Janet Lindner, deputy vice president for Administration, Public Safety, and Human Resources, Sonja will provide strategic and financial oversight for all units within Administration, Public Safety, and Human Resources.
Sonja started her career at Yale in 2001 as the business manager for Pediatrics. Four years later she assumed the position of associate administrator for the General Clinical Research Center, which later became the Yale Center for Clinical investigation (YCCI). Sonja continued to rise through the ranks first as business analyst for the Office of Research Administration (ORA), and then as senior manager for Grants and Contracts Administration (GCA). In this role, Sonja provided high-level strategic planning, trained staff and leaders on systems and processes, and served as liaison to key university offices, such as the Office of the General Council (OGC) to mitigate the university’s risk and improve overall processes.
In 2013, Sonja joined the Office of Administration as operations manager and associate director of Finance and Administration. Here she provided leadership and direction in the areas of financial and operational analysis, short and long range planning, risk management, resource management and talent development. Sonja brings 15 years of Yale knowledge and experience to her new role as lead administrator.
Sonja holds a B.S. in business administration with a dual major in economics and quantitative analysis from the University of New Haven and an M.B.A. from Albertus Magnus.
