Avoid Broken Links on your Websites When the New IT Site Goes Live this Weekend

June 28, 2018

This weekend, the new IT at Yale website will go live on the new Service Portal (Service Now). Links on other university sites to the former ITS website may not work if they were “deep links” to individual pages in the old site. We do have a major landing page redirect strategy, but links to websites at its.yale.edu/anypage* redirect to a custom 404 page on at its.yale.edu website that continues to exist to serve the About ITS content.

For example, if you had links to the ITS back up service: https://its.yale.edu/services/support-and-computing/its-backup-service/d... that link will now go to a custom 404 page at its.yale.edu.  Because service pages are in Service Now, we are not able to provide a comprehensive map of old to new URLs before go live.

If you manage a website that references the ITS site, please check and update your code after the IT at Yale website is launched.
