The following draft documents are now available for review and comment, and are posted on the Policies & Procedures Drafts Site.  The review process included discussions with the process owners and end users to incorporate their suggestions into these documents.  The documents will be posted on the website for a period of 30 days.  If applicable, please discuss the documents with the appropriate people in your department and, where necessary, please provide comments to controllers.office@yale.edu

Policy 3505 Out-of-State Work Locations

This policy, under the purview of Human Resources, provides standardized rules and guidance to the community regarding staff employees with out-of-state work locations.  Specifically, the policy covers the hiring of a staff employee to work at a location outside Connecticut, the assignment of a current staff employee to a work location outside Connecticut, and the use of University-approved flexible work arrangements outside Connecticut.  Key points include the following:

  • Establishment of a formal review process for out-of-state work location requests;
  • Clear delineation of roles and responsibilities for individuals and units involved in the request process;
  • Step-by-step explanation and instruction for each type of out-of-state work assignment;
  • new documents related to the policy are:
    • Procedure 3505 PR.01 Out-of-State Work Locations Procedure;
    • Form 3505 FR.01 Out-of-State (U.S.) Hiring & Placement Questionnaire; and
    • Form 3505 FR.02 Out-of-State (International) Hiring & Placement Questionnaire.
