Legacy DNS being decomissioned December 12, 2018

November 15, 2018

In preparation for upcoming Domain Name Service (DNS) architecture changes, a legacy DNS responder for 130.132.89.9 will be decommissioned on Wednesday, December 12, 2018.

As most devices are configured with additional DNS entries, these devices should not be impacted by the change. Any devices that are not configured with an alternate DNS entry will have issues resolving DNS and may be unable to connect to the internet or the Yale network.

Possible action required: If a device you manage is configured to use only the legacy DNS responder, 130.132.89.9, or you aren’t sure if your device is configured to use the legacy DNS responder and your device is no longer getting DNS info, you will need to update the DNS entry.

You can set your device to use DHCP to automatically get the DNS or add the following DNS servers to your DNS entries:

DNS Servers

  • 130.132.1.10
  • 130.132.1.9

Please contact the ITS Help Desk for assistance in configuring your device with an alternate DNS configuration before Wednesday, December 12, 2018.
