Fourth Annual Cinco de Mayo Celebration

May 8, 2019

The Controller’s Office has a volunteer committee that organizes many events on the sixth floor of 25 Science Park and beyond. Last week, staff members enjoyed the food and flavors of fourth annual Cinco De Mayo Potluck–a popular event.

The committee responsible for this festive get-together, includes Gina Kozak, Mike Jarosz, Lucy Mauldon, and Sue Visken-Diaz. Together, they organize a variety of events for members of the sixth floor of 25 Science Park and some just for the Controller’s Office staff only. The Cinco de Mayo event is always potluck and the most popular event each year, drawing about 30 to 40 people.

This team organizes a handful of events each year including: a Halloween lunch, Cinco de Mayo potluck and Mardi Gras party.  Recently, they tried a new event to celebrate end of Lent called Dyngus Day which is a traditionally Polish holiday. Sue usually handles decorating the kitchen, making each event extra festive.

This fab four also plans summer events for the Controller’s Office that include offices outside of the 25 Science Park building such as Investment Accounting, the Treasury office and the Bursar’s office. These offices are all a part of the Controller’s Office but not located at 25 SP.
