Hospitality Staff Attend Health and Wellness Fair
May 16, 2019
In late March, Yale’s Hospitality employees participated in their department’s own personal Health & Wellness Fair, now an annual event. Hospitality is thrilled to provide this event as health and wellness is an integral part of everyone’s work and home lives.
The day began at the Payne Whitney Gym, where staff was introduced to many of the gym’s fantastic facilities. It was a busy morning with lots of fun and physical activities. Many participated in the circuit lite session, others joined in meditation or yoga, some employees broke a sweat doing aerobics, and there was a friendly basketball shootout that brought out everyone’s competitive side. In addition to physical activities, there were over 15 vendors for employees to talk to, including Being Well at Yale, Trestle Tree, Yale Affinity Groups, Crunch Fitness, and Yale Work-Life and Childcare, Key Bank, Yale Environmental Health & Safety, Magellan Healthcare, Weight Watchers, Yale Cancer Center Screening and Prevention, and more!
After a full morning, we headed over to Yale on York for a packed afternoon of engaging and informative presentations—as well as a healthy and nutritious lunch provided by Yale Hospitality’s own exceptional catering team! Afternoon sessions included presentations from members of the Being Well at Yale and Yale Health team, Key Bank, Environmental Health & Safety, Magellan Healthcare, and Title IX training from the Office of the Provost and the Office of Equal Opportunity Programs.
The day was a complete success with positive feedback from staff. A special shout out to Anthony ‘Duke’ Diaz, Sr. Associate Athletic Director, and Carlos Pinela, Assistant Athletics Director of Payne Whitney Gym, and to the Being Well at Yale and Yale Health team (Lisa Kimmel, Rebecca Purcell, Melanie McCloskey, Danielle Casioppo, and Dr. Madeline Wilson) who have partnered with Yale Hospitality from the first event held a few years ago. We are incredibly grateful for their continued partnership as this event would not be possible without them.
Thanks to everyone for your time and engagement and we look forward to next year’s fair!
