50 Way 150 – Dessert Experience

September 30, 2019

2019 marks two major milestones in the University’s history: the 50th anniversary of the matriculation of women in Yale College and the 150th anniversary of the first women students at the university who came to study at the School of Art when it opened in 1869.

As part of this celebration, Yale Catering offered an interactive chef dessert experience featuring three of our very own female chefs, Brandie Villanova, Elissa Jacknick, and Julie Carrion, as well as two student female chefs, Woesha Hampson-Medina, Class of 2018, and Jessica Trinh, Senior in Branford College.

Julie Carrion, Retail Impressions Manager whipped up mini lemon meringue tarts, bananas foster, pate de fruit and more. Our resident cheese-monger, Elissa Jacknick (Culinary Experience Manager for Hopper College), served up various local cheeses with decadent accompaniments. Lastly, our head baker, Brandie Villanueva, brought the fall season to life through her apple cider whoopee pies and whiskey caramels.
