October 16, 2019

In an effort to assess the overall standards at the Yale Police Department, a consulting firm 21CP Solutions has been hired to conduct a review of operations. Members of 21CP will conduct conversations regarding the Yale Police Department (YPD) and its relationship with the community it serves, both at Yale University and the City of New Haven.

A diverse group of stakeholders, including members of the YPD, are being sought out to engage in a variety of listening sessions to better learn about community interactions and experiences individuals and groups have with the YPD.

The firm 21CP is led by a team of principal members from President Obama’s Task Force on 21st Century Policing. 21CP is known nationally for their expertise in community policing, building trust, and legitimacy through open and honest listening sessions spearheaded by well-known Police Commissioners, Cedric Alexander, and Charles Ramsey, as well as Jessica Drake, an experienced facilitator, nationally published researcher, and expert on criminal justice and law enforcement best practices and policies.
