GSAS + ITS collaboration = great new website

November 14, 2019

The Graduate School of Arts & Sciences (GSAS) launched a refreshed website at the end of October. The site, developed in collaboration with Yale ITS, features updated content, a consistent voice and tone, improved menu navigation, and photojournalistic images. .

The Graduate School’s goal for the website was for it be useful for current students, those who support them, and for the site to have a sustainable governance plan. This complex, content strategy focused effort, was the first in-house project of this magnitude for ITS.

To help guide the strategy, eight focus group were held with the GSAS team and key stakeholders. “This project benefited from strong collaboration and communication with our colleagues in ITS. We are especially grateful for their talent, flexibility, and good cheer throughout the project. We really enjoyed working together, and are delighted with the results” said Leah Phinney, Graduate School Director of Admissions.

The result of six months of development, is a site that includes better content, as well as an improved visual and user experience for current students, faculty, and staff. Additionally, by keeping the development entirely within Yale, GSAS did not need to engage a costly third-party vendor.

The project team was led by Senior Digital Producer Dana Lipnickas, with Julie Ramaccia, Zach Schwartz, Chao Hang Lu, Sylvia Perez, Mark Saba, Alyssa DeChiaro, Vincent Massaro, Dan Miller, Max Barreuther, Franz Hartl, and Taber Lightfoot. Yale ITS worked in close collaboration on the revised content and photography with graduate school colleagues Leah Phinney, Director of Admissions, Denzil Streete, Assistant Dean of Graduate Student Development & Diversity, Kathleen Galo, Senior Administrative Assistant, Nicole Wade, Senior Administrative Assistant, and GSAS freelancer Gila Reinstein.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this project possible and successful!
