Account Holder Report by Person - Updated email subject lines

January 29, 2020

In early January, subscription “subject lines” for all current Account Holder by Person reports were updated in a one-time system sweep. The email subject lines now include the text that was entered in the subscription description field when the report was created. See below examples of old and new email notification:

  • Old Version: Account Holder Report by Person was executed at date/time.
  • New Version: Notification – John Smith, Account Holder Report by Person was completed at date/time.

When creating new report subscriptions, please make sure to enter this identifying information (PI’s name) on the subject line manually. Individuals will need to copy the description field as the tool does not have the capability to pre-populate that information automatically.

E-mail failures -

The Power BI platform handles e-mail address failures differently than the legacy Hyperion Portal. Previously, if an email address was invalid, the report was only delivered to the valid e-mail addresses.

Now, Power BI attempts to deliver the e-mail three more times. In doing so, it also e-mails all of the original recipients of the report.  As a result, some users received the same e-mailed report multiple times. In addition, the subscription has an error message on the My Subscriptions page in the Result column that says:  “Failure sending email:  One or more errors occurred.”

When this happens, please review the e-mail addresses on the recipient list and either fix or remove the invalid one(s).  The team is working to change the server setting so it does not reattempt delivery if there is an invalid e-mail address.

Report failures:

Also, several users also received errors related to the parameter values, such as:

  • The subscription contains parameter values that are not valid.
  • Failure sending mail:  Default value or value provided for the report parameter ‘AccountHolderName’ is not a valid value.  Mail will not be resent.

These errors could be a result of the transfer process. This would occur when various COA’s were specified as a parameter, but one or more of those are no longer valid.  If you receive this type of error, please review your parameters to ensure they are correct. Individuals can do a test for any issues by doing the following before the month-end run: select the checkbox next to the subscription on the My Subscriptions page, and select Run Now from the action bar. Review the results.
