The multi-year Enterprise Monitoring project is in fullflight and is introducing several new acronyms to its project participants. Real User Monitoring (RUM), Application Performance Monitoring (APM), Infrastructure Performance Monitoring (IPM), and Digital Experience Monitoring (DEM) are just a few of the areas within the monitoring space that the team is focusing on.

This month, the request for information (RFI) pool of seven vendors will be reduced to three. The selected vendors will then begin their proof of concepts (PoC) in two-week sprints. These PoCs will give the team an opportunity to test drive the tools using Yale’s systems. This will allow the teams to get a better understanding of each product and its compatibility with the project requirements. The purchase of a new monitoring tool by the end of June is on track. This achieves the goals of minimizing the footprint and maximizing the use of monitoring tools, expanding monitoring features and capabilities, and leveraging cost savings through the retirement of existing solutions performing the same function. The new tool will assist to ensure applications are monitored for consistent and reliable service delivery. New display monitors have been installed at 25 Science Park with the expectation to implement the new monitoring tool in early FY21.
