Year of the Rat

February 13, 2020

Yale Dining’s Chinese New Year celebration kicked-off at Berkeley College on January 25, with a 15-day festival, also known as the Lunar New Year or the Spring Festival. Every new year is given the name of an animal, and this one is dedicated to the rat, symbolic of prosperity, vitality, and intelligence.

Berkeley’s team, led by Chef Dave Brooks, crafted an elaborate banquet featuring duck bao buns, steamed cod with scallions and soy, several stir-fried dishes, dumplings, and a hot pot with fish, meat, noodles, and vegetables. For a sweet end to the feast, dessert included nian gao cake, ice cream, and assorted citrus and exotic fruits.

Best wishes to our entire team for a year filled with happiness and success!
