Medical campus phone/network mainteanance - various dates in April

  • Yale ITS will perform network maintenance on the medical campus network on multiple dates in April, beginning Thursday, April 2.
  • This work will result in brief network and telephone outages, including health, life, and safety dispatch telephones and blue phones on the medical campus, as work is performed in each building.

  • Anyone needing emergency assistance during this time should dial 911 from their mobile phone.

Details

As part of Yale ITS’ commitment to provide a noticeable improvement in Yale’s network and phone reliability and quality, ITS will be conducting maintenance on the medical campus network.

As work is performed, please expect the following:

Thursday, April 2 (6:30 - 7:30 a.m.)

Impact:

  • Brief network outages, lasting up to five minutes.
    • Remote access from off-campus to the below locations may be affected.
  • Desk phone calls in progress, both to and from the medical campus may be affected.
  • Use your cell phone to dial 911 in case of an emergency.

  • Sterling Hall of Medicine - B  (SHM BG 72)
  • Sterling Hall of Medicine - C  (SHM C401)
  • Sterling Hall of Medicine - C  (SHM C431)

  • Boardman, attic
  • CT Mental Health Center (CMHC)
  • Sterling Hall of Medicine - I  (SHM i146)
  • Laboratory of Epidemiology & Public Health (LEPH)

  • Laboratory for Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynecology (LSOG), Diagnostic Radiology

Sunday, April 5 (5:15 - 9:00 a.m)

Impact:

  • Brief network outages, lasting up to five minutes.
    • Remote access from off-campus to the below locations may be affected.
  • Brief (up to 20-minute outages) between 5:15am - 6am affecting:
    • blue emergency phones (used in emergencies to contact the Yale Police)
    • elevator phones
    • area of refuge phones
    • University phones located within Yale New Haven Hospital
  • Desk phone calls in progress, both to and from the medical campus, including call centers, may be interrupted.
  • Phones may experience a busy signal.
  • Brief (up to 10-minute outages) between 5:45am - 9am for the below locations
  • Access to YNHH from Campus may experience brief (up to 10-minute outage)

  • Cardin Lab
  • Cardiac Imaging
  • 100 Church Street South

Anyone needing emergency assistance during this time should dial i11 from their mobile phone.

Services will return to normal after the maintenance window. Telecom staff will be on-hand to verify that the various call center voice prompts are working properly at the conclusion of this work.
