HRU Development Café - February 2021

January 29, 2021

Please join us for the next installment of HRU Development Café, Supporting Healthy Emotional Regulation within Human Resources.

This virtual session will be held on Friday, February 12, from noon – 1:30 p.m. via Zoom, and registration is required* in advance of the session.

Marc Brackett, PhD and Director for the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence will facilitate this this dynamic session for the Human Resources team.

Supporting Healthy Emotional Regulation with Human Resources

Human Resources professionals frequently serve in support roles for our employees. The topics we counsel on often go well beyond the scope of the workplace. Over this last year, our expertise and capabilities have been stretched beyond unthinkable depths.

Economic uncertainty encroaches, political and racial unrest swells, a worldwide pandemic continues to rage, our healthcare and mental health systems have been pushed to their limits, while grief and trauma present a second wave of need. Physical distancing continues to present new challenges, with isolation further impacting all individuals. All these stressors, and many more, impact the employees of our organization. Most often, the Human Resources team attends to the well-being and needs of staff before regulating our own healthy emotional welfare.

This interactive session builds off the all-employee program facilitated by Professor Brackett on February 4, and takes that pre-learning one step further, specifically applying the learning objectives to the Human Resources organization. Here we will explore what it takes to create a positive virtual social and emotional climate for and within Human Resources. We will explore how the Human Resources organization currently feels and how everyone hopes to feel within the workplace. We also will learn strategies for building an emotionally intelligent culture, while we continually balance how we are needed to support the holistic organization and prepare ourselves for continual change.
