John answers a question about email limits
January 21, 2021
Yale’s Chief Information Officer, John Barden, addresses questions asked by the community through our Ask John survey feature. This week, John answers a question about email limits.
Can you remove or increase the small, single-message limit for Yale email?
Yale’s message size limit is currently set to the highest limit for each email platform, 150MB for Office 365 email, and 50MB for EliApps. Email is not intended to be a file transfer solution, or a file storage system. When you need to share larger files, this can be done by uploading the file to the appropriate file storage system (Box, OneDrive, Teams, etc.) and sharing the file with the desired audience through that application.
Do you want to ask John about something on your mind? Take a moment to share questions and ideas you might have; submissions are anonymous and responses will be addressed in subsequent issues of IT Update.
You can also ask questions during the upcoming Virtual IT Town Hall (9:00 - 9:30 a.m. on Friday, January 22.
