Change made to Participant Support Cost Award Line/Grant Setup

February 10, 2021

Participant Support Costs (PSC) are direct costs for items such as stipends or subsistence allowances, travel allowances, and registration fees. These are paid to or on behalf of participants or trainees (but not employees) in connection with conferences or training projects. To track or segregate these costs from other project costs, National Science Foundation (NSF) awards with (PSC) require the awards be setup with a separate Workday award line/grant number.

In order for the University to easily and consistently identify these award lines/grants, and to facilitate ease of review and reporting, a consistent naming convention has been developed.

Effective immediately, all award/grant lines will be set up in Workday with “PSC” in the grant name, followed by a unique name provided by the department. Departments are required to use this format when requesting award line/grant setups involving (PSC) on the Award Budget Setup (ABS) form.

  • For Example:   GR000000 PSC – Unique name provided by Department

Any ABS form submitted to Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP) without this naming convention, will be corrected with the PSC added to the grant name.

For questions, please contact your OSP accountant directly.
