New Effective Date - Zelle Student Payments implementation, PandA Enhancements and Information Session

March 31, 2021

Summary

  • The new effective date for the Zelle Student Payments Implementation and PandA Enhancements is April 19, 2021.

The planned changes include:

  • establishing Zelle Digital Disbursements as a new Payment Type and implement it as the primary payment method to issue payments to Yale University students via their university email address for prizes, awards, stipends, and reimbursements.
  • modifying the Prizes and Awards (PandA) template to accept Zelle and to provide an efficient means to create Workday supplier records for university students.

Details

Effective April 19, 2021, Zelle will become the primary payment method for students for invoices originating in Prizes and Awards (PandA) and Supplier Invoice Requests. Zelle is a US-based digital payment network that enables the transfer of money between bank accounts using a mobile device or a participating banking institution’s website.

“Zelle” will become an acceptable payment type in the PandA integration process that creates supplier records for students. Zelle will typically be set as the default payment type.

PandA can be used to setup students as suppliers for any kind of payment (e.g., reimbursement, services, prizes and awards). However, only payments for Prizes and Awards, Stipends and Fellowships can be made using PandA. The Prizes and Awards (PandA) template will be modified to include five new fields:

  • Payment Type: You may select Zelle, Check, or, for students with banking information already on file, ACH or Wire.
  • Payment Due Date: Enter a future date when payment is due or leave blank for payment as soon as possible.
  •  Supplier Set-up Only: This column will enable users to create a new supplier record for an active Yale University student.  Users have the option of providing an address or accepting the address received from Banner.
  • Check Handling: If Check is the specified payment type, user selects either Mail or Special Pickup 2 Whitney.
  • Country: If entering an address, include the Country from the pull-down menu.

Additionally, PandA will support payments to international students.
