New - Ability to cancel Accounting Journals

Effective Wednesday, April 28, 2021, the Cost Center Finance and Accounting Specialist (CCFAS) can cancel Accounting Journals initiated in the current open accounting period. Journals can be canceled after creation, when in the draft, or while in progress. Once a journal has been successfully posted, it cannot be canceled, only reversed. The procedure for how to reverse a journal entry.

Accounting Journals should only be canceled by the individual that initiated the entry. If the month-end close is approaching and a journal is determined to be unnecessary, the CCFAS should use the action to Cancel the journal. 

Find the Journal. Use the related actions to choose to cancel.

Confirm cancel by clicking “ok.”

Journal Status will be canceled.

The Financial Systems and Solutions team will continue to cancel journals with an “In Progress” status at the month-end close deadline. The month-end financial calendar.
