Honoring local moms
June 4, 2021
Last month, hundreds of local women were given flowers, gift bags, and baskets to celebrate Mother’s Day. The Yale Police Department (YPD) partnered with several Yale and New Haven Community groups to collect, pack, and deliver these items to mothers living in shelters and elderly housing. These gifts benefited mothers through these programs: New Reach, Inc., The Center for Kinship Services Program, and Christian Community Action.
YPD Officer Martha Cedeno-Ross worked with Women of the Village food pantry and delivered flowers and bags with hygiene products to women living in an elderly housing complex in New Haven. She also regularly supports several local families and hand-delivered baskets in honor of Mother’s Day.
Participating groups:
- Yale Police Department
- New Haven Fire Department
- Yale Veteran’s Network
- Future Leaders of Yale
- The Asian Network at Yale
- Yale African American Affinity Group
- Yale Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer Group
