New date: Transition of on-premises mail relays to the Microsoft cloud

ITS has rescheduled the transition of the on-premises mail relays to the Microsoft cloud to occur from July 27 - 29. This change will improve mail security, reduce complexity, and decrease the overall cost of the mail service.

Summary

  • Between 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 27, and 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 29, ITS will transition on-premises mail relays to the Microsoft cloud.
  • Should an unexpected interruption occur, please see details below for how to report.

Details

This change will improve mail security, reduce complexity, and decrease the overall cost of the mail service.

While ITS expects no interruption in service, message senders within the University may receive “bounce” error messages if mail flow is disrupted.

Please report any bounce messages to the ITS Help Desk immediately. Be sure to include the full headers and exact text of any errors received. The mail system will queue the message and retry sending it over the next 48 hours.
