Summer community events

August 2, 2021

It has been a busy summer packed with community events hosted or attended by Yale Public Safety. One such event included the Police Activities League (PAL) Camp Fun Day that featured inflatables, ice cream, and face painting. The PAL program provides educational and athletic programs for children through after-school, weekend, and special summer events.

Other events included a diaper giveaway, training and coaching the Wilbur Cross High School cheerleader,s and the Channel 3 Kids Camp.

Officer Martha Cedeno-Ross is currently the conditioning coach at Wilbur Cross High School. This summer, she has been working with the cheerleading squad to get them conditioned for the upcoming school year. Part of that included doing yoga. Many thanks to the Women of the Village Food Pantry who donated yoga mats!

In July, Yale Public Safety also helped with the Diaper Giveaway and Stetson on the street event coordinated by Women of the Village Food Pantry. This included distributing 80 bags of non-perishables, meats, and boxes of diapers. Over 53 families participated.

This year the Yale Police Department and the Office of Yale and New Haven Affairs sponsored ten kids to attend the Channel 3 Kids Camp (C3KC). C3KC offers day camping programs for children ages 3 - 13, offering a wide variety of camp activities. Day camp runs for nine different sessions in a one-week interval.

Special Thanks to:

  • Women of the Village Food Pantry - who sponsored the ice cream truck, organized the diaper giveaway, and donated yoga mats.
