Welcome new Human Resources staff

Please join us in welcoming several new staff members to Yale’s Human Resources Department.

Kelly Chen recently joined the Benefits Planning Department as the new Senior Benefits Analyst. Kelly comes to Yale from USI. She spent the last three years preparing and analyzing requests for proposals (RFP’s) for ancillary services for mid-sized employer clients and making results-based recommendations.

In addition, Kelly served as an implementation resource for a wide range of employee benefit programs. Before joining USI, she worked at Mutual of America Financial Group as a disability claim specialist for over ten years. She handled all facets of disability claim administration, including benefit calculation, policy interpretation, fraud investigations, and integration of disability claims with other employees’ benefits. Kelly holds a CT Life and Health Insurance license.

Beatrix “Bea” Eiben recently joined the Human Resource Absence Management team as a Program Administrator for Paid Family and Medical Leave. Bea will be reporting to Raina Sorgenti, Associate Director, Absence Management Programs.

Bea has over seven years of absence management experience, including her recent work experience with The Standard as a Yale liaison. She supported Yale’s leaves of absence program, staff, managers, and HR Partners during that time. Before that, she worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance, where she developed an expertise in disability claims management. She is well versed in the Yale Leaves Program and has established relationships throughout the community. Bea has a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Connecticut State University.

Rachel Hurtado recently joined the Employee Relations team as a Human Resource Generalist (HRG). Rachel will be the new HRG for the Cancer Center as Candice van Emmenes transitions to support new client groups in the School of Medicine.

Rachel has over eight years of HR experience, including her most recent work with Crisis Prevention Institute, a Talent Management Program Manager. Rachel’s HR career began at Lowes Home Improvement Store, working as a Human Resource manager. She has excellent experience in recruiting, talent management, and employee relations. Rachel has a B.S. in Management with a concentration in Human Resources from Purdue University. She also earned a PHR certification.

Michele Parisi recently started as a Senior Administrative Assistant supporting both the Benefits and Absence Management teams.

Michele comes to us from the School of Medicine, where she supported the Medical Education Office for Obstetrics and Gynecology. In that fast-paced role, Michele wore many hats, supporting both the clerkship and residency programs. Michele’s background includes experience with scheduling, event coordination, processing expense reports, and travel arrangements.
