Elect to receive your W-2 electronically

Take a moment to elect to receive your W-2 electronically if you did not already consent to do so last year. Beyond simplifying your personal tax filings, this method will ensure the following benefits:

  • Privacy & security: Fast and secure delivery, protecting your sensitive information from possible loss, theft, or delay in the U.S. mail
  • Sustainability: Supports the Yale Sustainability Plan 2025 by reducing costs of printing and mailing individual forms
  • Accessibility: Quick and easy access to your W-2 through Workday (including mobile access) whenever you want

You may choose to consent to receive your W-2 electronically until January 15, 2022. Please follow the simple steps below or visit It’s Your Yale for detailed instructions:

  1. Login to Workday using your Yale NetID and password
  2. Click on the “Pay” worklet
  3. From the “View” section, click “My Tax Documents”
  4. Click “Edit”
  5. Verify your name is correct and click “OK”
  6. Select the radio button: “Receive electronic copy of my Year End Tax Documents” (ignore the red asterisk next to the first radio button)
  7. Click “OK”
  8. Click “Done”
  9. Close your web browser to exit Workday

If you consent, you will receive an email in January when your W-2 is ready for print.  If you do not take action prior to January 15, 2022, your W-2 form will be printed and mailed to your home address during the last week of January. Please ensure that your home address is correct in Workday by following these steps:

  1. Login to Workday using your Yale NetID and password
  2. Click on the cloud icon (or your picture if you’ve added your photo) found in the upper right-hand corner
  3. Click ”View Profile”
  4. Click the “Contact” tab on the left. If you need to update your address (“Contact Information”), follow the Modify Your Personal Information guide
