Possible follow-up action required for I-9 verification

November 3, 2021

Due to the pandemic, the United States Department of Homeland Security had permitted interim completion of I-9s remotely for individuals working remotely. However, the U.S. government now requires anyone who onboarded using remote verification to now complete the I-9 verification in person.

In early November, a targeted communication will be sent to employees who verified their I-9 via this remote I-9 process and have yet to complete their follow-up, in-person verification requirement. It is important that these employees comply with this requirement promptly. If you are receiving notices in Workday that you have faculty and staff that need to complete their I-9s, please have them make an appointment immediately. The link below provides the instructions and process to set up an appointment.

For more information on I-9 documentation verification, please visit the I-9 Homepage or contact the Employee Service Center.
