Topping out at Kline Tower
November 19, 2021
A fall stroll in Sachem’s Wood doesn’t only return a colorful palette. Science Hill’s centerpiece, Kline Tower, changes like its surrounding flora.
Kline Tower is undergoing a multi-year renovation spanning the entire building. Since September of this year, a 450-ton hydraulic crane has been hoisting steel up to the tower’s roof where workers are constructing a new floor for conferences and events. A penthouse above this space will house more efficient mechanical systems to service new classrooms, conference rooms, and offices located on the floors below.
The final piece of steel was recently set into place, marking the completion of a significant construction milestone for this project, and signaling toward a transition to the next phase.
