Welcome James Carpio, Program Manager, Training Specialist, HR Organizational Development

February 25, 2022

Please join us in welcoming James Carpio, who recently joined the HR Organizational Development team as a program manager and training specialist, reporting to Stephanie Gosteli, Director of Learning and Development. James is working on standing up the new learning management system Workday Learning.

This new online system replaces Yale’s current training and certification system, known simply as TMS (Training Management System). Workday Learning will offer more options and structure than the existing TMS. Once live, it will allow for quizzing, reporting, career pathing, strategy and evaluation, and interactive training.

James began his new position in December 2021. He has over 20 years of instructional designer experience, including setting up learning management and training systems, and before Yale worked at Cablevision (now known as Altice), Datto, Inc., and Subway.

James was born and grew up in San Francisco, California, where his family has been since the 1880s. James has lived on the East Coast—first on Long Island in New York and then Connecticut—for over 20 years. He and his wife live locally. James studied marketing and communications at City College in San Francisco. This spring James is set to complete his bachelor’s degree in instructional design online with the University of Arizona.
