COVID-19 vaccines work very well to protect against severe illness, hospitalization and death. But as with all vaccines, effectiveness against infection decreases over time. Being “up to date” on vaccination by getting a booster strengthens your protection against COVID-19, including its variants. The Omicron variant spreads even more easily than the original virus. This is why getting a booster when you are eligible is so important.
Remember that you can schedule a booster, as well as a primary vaccine series, through the Yale COVID-19 Program or at one of many sites throughout Connecticut.
