Meta offers hate crime training at the Yale Police Department

June 30, 2022

The Yale Police Department is offering hate crime training in late July. It is open to all members of Yale Public Safety and other outside partners, including FBI agents, the New Haven Police Department, and dispatchers.

This training will be run by Meta an American multinational technology conglomerate that owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, among other products and services. Meta offers this service to law enforcement agencies across the United States. Two sessions will be run on Friday, July 28, hosted by Meta Instructor Cynthia Deitle. It includes information about hate crimes, state laws, analysis of local hate crime statistics, and a variety of speakers.

“It will be interesting to hear from non-law enforcement presenters, which I believe will give us a unique perspective. This type of training is not new to the YPD; we offer it frequently. But this is the first time with Meta,” said Lieutenant Frank DeCrescenzo.
