June 30, 2022

Dear Yale Police Colleagues,

It gives me great pleasure to share with you a recent promotion and Yale police new hires.

Chief Higgins announced in May the opening of an Assistant Chief of Police position. This position was posted for internal candidates only. The req will be open shortly to external candidates with the expectation to hire two Assistant Chiefs.

Effective June 2022, Sergeant Myisha Giddings was promoted from the rank of Police Officer. Sergeant Giddings was hired in 2016 and has worked a variety of roles in patrol. Sergeant Giddings graduated from Boston College with a major in Political Science and a minor in Theology. She continued to obtain her Master of Public Administration (MPA) from California State University. Before joining Yale Police, Myisha worked in human resources and labor relations.

I wish Sergeant Giddings all continued success in her new role. I invite all of Yale Police to join me in Sergeant Giddings swearing in ceremony on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at the Rose Center.

Yale Police is pleased to welcome two new members to the team. Officer Tyson and Officer Berry will start on Tuesday, July 5, 2022. Both officers bring with them exceptional experience.

Officer Charles Tyson was a Police Officer with the New Haven Police Department. He attended Wilbur Cross High School and received his diploma in 1992. Mr. Tyson graduated from the New Haven Police Academy in 2004 and started with New Haven Police as a community patrol officer. He was assigned to the Alcohol Tobacco Firearm Task Force from 2008-2013. He transitioned to his most recent role as a school resource officer.
