YCCI and HR collaborate on two summer internship programs

This summer, the Yale Center for Clinical Investigation (YCCI) and several Yale Human Resource (HR) partners successfully launched two internship programs. The primary goal of these internships was to train and prepare young scholars from diverse backgrounds and interests to become future leaders in clinical and translational research. 

This collaboration drew students from across the country, Puerto Rico and Mexico. They connected virtually with the faculty and staff of YCCI throughout the multi-week learning and working program. A total of 34 young scholars were hired and onboarded in record time due to a great partnership between HR staff — Lauren Slater, Alina Colossale, Rebecca Witkins, and Tanyah Hunter — and the YCCI staff — Rebecca Rowley, Sundae Black, and Jaclyn Davis.

Here is a snapshot of this summer’s program:

YCCI Exposures Program

  • 300+ applications from around the world
  • 22 young scholars aged 15 - 21
  • 10 different states plus Puerto Rico and Mexico
  • 56 hours of training and project time
  • 36 Yale faculty and staff presenting on the importance of clinical research
  • 3 great group project presentations on increasing awareness of clinical research among children and adolescents

Yale Summer Enrichment Research Experience

  • 12 interns
  • 11 different Connecticut towns and cities
  • 6 different content area labs
  • 225 hours of training including:
    • 12 Lunch and Learn sessions
    • 6 Professional Development workshops
    • 6 weeks of in-lab training
