Workday upgrade September 10, 2022 – What to expect

Summary

On Saturday, September 10, Workday will be upgraded to a new version. Please find links to helpful information to prepare you for the changes in the Details section below.  

A snapshot of the changes include: 

Business Process User Interface Updates – All Users

  • New home page layout that improves functionality and user experience. 
  • New search feature that improves efficiency and search relevancy.
  • A simplified Tables experience that replaces the read-only Tables View.
  • Introduction of a Change Benefits button within the Benefit Elections report.
  • A status indicator alerting when a benefit election has been reviewed within a Benefit Enrollment Event.

HCM Updates

  • Two new columns within Assign Roles.
  • Ability to add an effective date for when an alternate work location change will take place.
  • Paid holiday and other forms of calculated time are now reflected in total hours when submitting time.

Finance Updates

  • New Attachment Category field when uploading attachments when creating requisitions. 

Workday Extended Outage

Workday will be unavailable for a maximum of four hours on Saturday, September 10, from 2:00 – 6:00 a.m. EDT. 

Workday can and does make changes up until the day of release. To understand any new updates, watch for information in the Announcements section on the Workday homepage.

Business Process User Interface Updates – All Users

Home Page
The new home page reflects an improved user experience, including:

  • A new layout that helps users find the functionality they need quickly and easily.
  • New features in the Quick Tasks section that will learn and predict your most frequented tasks and provide quick access to the tasks you are most likely to perform.
  • The ability to configure a Your Top Apps section to reflect user preference.

Search
The new Search feature improves efficiency and relevancy by allowing users to configure their Saved Categories, so the most relevant items return in the top section of search results.

Tables
Workday has replaced the read-only Tables View with a new Tables experience that:

  • Simplifies the view, displaying data in pages and showing the total number of items in the table.
  • Provides greater control, with the ability to select 30 items or all items view.
  • Improves usability with quick access to the first, last, previous, and next pages, or any page specified.
  • Is more accessible, enabling users who use assistive technologies to navigate between pages.
  • Improves keyboard shortcuts to update the freeze, hide, reorder, and show column settings.

Change Benefits Button
A new, convenient Change Benefits button has been added to the Benefit Elections Report, allowing users to make alterations quickly and easily to their chosen benefits during a Benefit Event. This addition has been included in the Manage My Benefits training guide.

Reviewed Benefit Status Indicator
Workday is making managing a new Benefit Enrollment Event easier by including a Reviewed status indicator so users can keep track of the benefits they have viewed as they navigate benefit elections. This addition has been included in the Manage My Benefits training guide.

HCM Updates

New columns within Assign Roles
Users can view two new columns within Assign Roles that allow viewing Role Assignees as of Specified Effective Date and Role Assignments as of Assignee Effective From Date.

Effective date for alternate work location
Within Change Work Contact Information, Workday now allows users to add an effective date when an alternate work location change will take place. This addition has been included in the Change Job: Change Work Location training guide.

Time Entry View
Paid holiday and other forms of calculated time are now reflected in total hours when submitting time. The supervisor view will also include these hours, while time off continues to show under “all current time.”

Finance Updates

New Attachment Category field
Although the categories have not yet been filled in, users will see an Attachment Category field when uploading an attachment in Create Requisition. This field does not impact the ability to upload attachments.
