- Policy 1370 Export-Controlled Information – Revised
This policy, from the Office of Research Administration, received very minor updates for the purpose of clarity and to modernize some of its language and terminology. There have been no changes to process, nor are there any regulatory changes to highlight. Rather, the updates were editorial in nature. Primary revisions to note include the following:
- Naming the supporting regulations (e.g., ITAR, EAR);
- Expanding the definition of “Information”;
- Inserting a Policy Statement section to articulate the high-level policy;
- Clarifying when data is not subject to export control laws;
- Adding examples of what constitutes an export;
- Changing the phrase “exempt export-controlled information” to instead be “export-controlled information.” (Note: information either IS or IS NOT subject to export controls laws; the previously existing wording was found to be too confusing.); and
- Minor changes to bring the format into alignment with current policy format (e.g., alphabetizing the Definitions section, inserting the new “Yale Ventures” name).
