Yale Human Resources welcomes new hires – November 2022

Please join Yale Human Resources (HR) in welcoming the newest members of our team!

Colleen Gerbino recently joined the HR Benefits team as a Staff Accommodations Manager reporting to Raina Sorgenti. Colleen will oversee the day-to-day aspects of accommodations cases, ensure compliance, and manage risk to the university while integrating other programs such as FMLA, Workers’ Compensation, and Stay-at-Work programs. Colleen brings a wealth of knowledge and experience and an M.S. in human resources management from the University of Scranton.

Nicole Heyder has joined HR as the Employee Services Support Specialist reporting to Rachelle Ianniello. Nicole will serve as a principal source of HR information for faculty and staff, responding to customer inquiries and requests, researching issues, and determining the process for resolution.

Krista Lyon-Sam recently joined the HR Benefits team as the Leave and Disability Program Manager, reporting to Raina Sorgenti. Krista will oversee Yale’s leaves of absence management and compliance of income replacement programs for all participants in absence management. She will also support the community with training and education to guide employees through various state and Yale processes.

Michele Glassman has joined the Yale School of Medicine Employee Relations (YSM ER) team as a Human Resources Generalist. Michele will directly support the Yale Center for Clinical Investigation and be a floater for the YSM ER team by aligning HR objectives and initiatives to the business needs across the organization, reporting directly to Lauren Slater. Michele has over ten years of experience in human resources. Before Yale, she worked as a Senior Human Resource Business Partner at Waterbury Hospital. She managed ER matters in both clinical and non-clinical departments throughout the enterprise, working with three separate unions and bargaining contracts. Michele has a degree in human resources administration from Ashworth College.

Bruce Monte ‘85 B.S. has joined the HR senior leadership team as the new Head of Total Rewards reporting to John Whelan. In this role, Bruce will lead our combined efforts in benefits planning and compensation. He brings a wealth of non-profit and corporate experience to Yale, including having served as the Executive Director at the Office of Employee Benefits for the Federal Reserve System, and vice president of corporate benefits for UnitedHealth Group. Bruce brings to bear an extensive background in producing competitive and cost-effective programs and leading teams at other top organizations such as Morgan Stanley and PepsiCo. In addition to his B.S. in chemical engineering, Bruce earned an M.S. in chemical engineering practice from M.I.T. As a Yale alum, he is excited to return to New Haven.

Janet Gipson recently joined the HR senior leadership team as the new Head of Talent Acquisition, reporting to John Whelan. In this role, Janet will be instrumental in advancing HR’s strategic priority of “attracting and retaining a talented and diverse workforce at Yale.” Janet joins us after serving as the vice president for talent acquisition at Global Medical Response Corporation. Prior to that, spent 20 years at DISH Network/EchoStar as the vice president for talent acquisition, vice president for sales and marketing, and a series of other business development roles. In a dual degree program, Janet earned her B.A. in Mathemetics from Spelman College and B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech. She continued her education to complete her M.B.A. from the College of William and Mary.
